I caught a nice break in the hot August weather during my last trip to Tokyo. The days were definitely getting cooler, and the hot, humid air had started to clear with all of the dense cloud coverage, making my stay rather pleasant.
The Imperial Palace is located just outside of Tokyo Station, and while about one-half serves as the private residence for the Emperor and his family, the other half of the 3.41 square kilometers serves as a public park and an arena (Nippon Budokan Hall). Pictured here is part of the outer castle wall, Hamaguri Moat, Kikyo Gate entrance, the Tatsumi Yagura (arrow storehouse) in the foreground and the Imperial Household Agency part of the residence in the background.
For this photo, I combined seven bracketed exposures in Photoshop, saved as a TIFF and tonemapped in Photomatix. Post-HDR work done again in Photoshop and iPhoto for color, contrast, highlights and GPS location information.
