After going back through some of my out-west images after learning alot more about good photography, I found this one that caught my eye. I thought the lines in the rock on the right did a good job leading my eye toward turret arch, creating a stronger composition than the image I posted of this place before. This was truly a remarkable place and I can’t wait to go back!

This place has so many cool features, that it is hard for an easily distracted person such as myself to determine what to shoot. Although nothing interesting is visible on the lower part of the cliff in the bg, I think I prefer the foreground rocks in this shot versus the single rock in the subsequent post. Your thoughts?

Btw, the muddy water is typical for the Niagara region where the creeks pass through cultivated farmland

Many of you know my passion for photographing Appalachia and its streamscapes, but I also love being out west in Utah! If you have never been out there, you definitely need to go! The whole state is full of awesome geology and breathtaking scenery. I was going back through a couple old folders while transferring pics to my new terabyte external hard drive, and I couldn’t believe I hadn’t noticed this one the last three years. I hope you like it too!

On our vacation a few years ago, Dana and I arose early to photograph this iconic spot near Moab. When we got there, there were about ten other photographers there, too! We squeezed in and waited for the sun to rise. As the sun rose, the reflected light basked the underside of mesa arch with warm reflected light. My subject in this shot was washerwoman arch.
